Ending the Military to Police Equipment Pipeline at Home

Since 1990, the U.S. Defense Department has given $7.4 billion in military equipment to thousands of police forces across the country under the Law Enforcement Support (LESO or 1033) Program.  Equipping American police forces with military gear–often far in excess of what police can or should use for their actual duties and with no oversight — distances police from the people and communities they have sworn to serve.
